12/3/2023 0 Comments Superliminal genre![]() ![]() Storyįull disclaimer, there are going to be a lot of comparisons to the Portal series, specifically the first game. A trippy experience, to say the least, Superliminal is a short but sweet game whose premise is enough to keep players entertained. So enter Superliminal, a dreamscape where perspective is your only tool, and you’re just falling from one dream to another. I can only think of a few games that precisely scratched that itch for me, like the Portal series or Quantum Conundrum. There really is something about being thrown in a gauntlet of test chambers armed only with some strange weapon or gimmick to get you out. It has a short running time, but there were so many amusingly clever moments in those few hours I played to make it worth it. Using perspective as a puzzle mechanic isn’t unique to Superliminal, but it’s one of the only games I’ve played that leans on it throughout, and probably the most fun I’ve had while playing such a game. That said, what’s there is extremely well done. As with most puzzle games, you may get stuck and spend more time with it, but there isn’t a whole lot of content. I was able to play through Superliminal in a single sitting-just over two and a half hours. Thinking it was a solution, I spent way too long slow walking around until I discovered it was just a bug.īesides the bug I ran into, my biggest complaint is its short length. There was one puzzle that I got stuck on in the worst way-without giving too much away, I shrunk myself down and fell between the cracks of a level. That being said, there were a few headscratchers, and I did get stuck for a little while. I don’t know if I’m just particularly adept at finding the solutions to these types of puzzles, or if they really were that easy. I only got stumped by the puzzles a few times. And while puzzles seem to be thematically similar, I often found myself not knowing what to expect even within the same set of puzzles.Īs clever as the puzzles are, they aren’t the most challenging I’ve come across. Things get really mind bending when you get the chance to place doorways within doorways. Doorways can be removed from the wall in some puzzles, and placed in other locations-or even made smaller or bigger, to increase or decrease the player’s size as well. ![]() Objects can become pictures, pictures can become objects. If you find yourself in a dark hallway with no way through on both ends, the answer may be walking through the dark walls on the side-that aren’t walls after all. Superliminal also uses light and shadow, and negative space in clever ways to make puzzles. There’s more to perspective than objects getting larger and smaller. Superliminal takes the idea of perspective puzzles to all of their extremes in some of the best ways. But it’s more than just making a small box big to get to a higher step-though there’s plenty of that. If you see a doorway up a wall you can’t access, but there’s a box in the room, you can place that box in a spot that makes it larger than it was, and now you can pick up the larger box. That’s the basis for most of the puzzles in Superliminal. Did you ever look at a far object, like the moon, and pretend to crush it with your fingers? Well, imagine if you could pluck that moon out of the sky, and roll it like a marble. ![]() 12/3/2023 0 Comments Silo farms shelbyville ky![]() ![]() In our continued pursuit of excellence, we achieve a great building experience for our customers. Your plants will thank you, you'll be happier with the results, and you wouldn't waste money by losing expensive plants. Hardening off your plants may seem like a tedious and time-consuming process, but it is actually easy and worth the effort. Hardening off will prevent shock that could set back or halt the plant's growth, prevent sunburn (scalding), and help your seedlings or young plants grow into healthy, vigorous adult plants. By gradually exposing them to the outside elements, they build up their defenses and have time to adapt to the new environment. ![]() Plants have a protective waxy coat on their leaves that helps to repel water, reduces the rate of dehydration, and protects them against harmful ultraviolet light.īut when seedlings have been grown indoors, they haven't fully developed this waxy coat. It's like having to go out during a cold winter's evening when you've been snuggling up under your favorite blanket in front of the fireplace. Causing distress to the plants or even killing them. When the plants are used to these pleasant and cozy conditions, moving them outside without any warning or weaning can cause transplant shock. They are also not much affected by wind, rain, and extreme temperature changes such as frost. Seedlings started indoors, whether in a greenhouse, on your windowsill, or under a grow light, are grown in the ideal conditions where you control the temperatures, the light, and moisture levels. ![]() By hardening off, you slowly expose your vegetables, fruits, and flowers to the outside elements to ensure their survival. It’s important not to pre-judge, but with Luminar Neo offering decent results, AI-wise, we’ve got high hopes for both of these.Ī final touch with Luminar Neo is its companion app, about which it’s currently impossible to file under anything other than 'good idea'. The full release version is out now and includes presets and layers, but an upcoming update will add Mask AI (which will do what Photoshop's Quick Select tool does) as well as Portrait Background Removal AI, which will presumably do what it says on the tin. It’s worth stressing that although much of Luminar Neo’s appeal is in tinker-free editing, you can fine-tune the effects the automated tools give you using the masking brush.Ī point worth making is that our review is, currently, based on an early access version of Luminar Neo. On images with more clearly defined subjected – either in terms of their brightness or the sharpness falloff between them and their background – the tool worked much better, selectively brightening the subject, or the background. ![]() On images with large depth of field – that is, more sharpness throughout the image – it seemed Luminar was struggling somewhat to accurate gauge the depth of the shot. We went in with high hopes for Relight with Luminar Neo acquitting itself well elsewhere, there seemed a chance this might to an end the days of laboriously masking out a subject and endlessly dodging and burning them to get the desired result.īut we got a mixed set of results. Relight is a tool that analyses the depth in an image, detecting the foreground near the camera and the background further away, and then allows you to make exposure corrections based on that information. Photographers of all experience levels will know the challenge of correctly exposing a subject when they’re against a very dark or bright surface and will similarly know the challenges associated with correcting missed exposures in software. The inclusion of the AI-powered Relight is another tool with heaps of potential. One image with a pair of enormous dust spots failed completely, with Neo unable to detect or remove them. Where we had nothing but untrammeled success for removing powerlines, removing dust proved a little more hit and miss. Under the same set of erasing tools you also get automatic dust spot removal. Not only did Luminar Neo accurately detect powerlines – including one case where the cables faded into an area of over-exposure – but it made an exceedingly decent fist of removing them as well, deleting the lines and leaving no trace of the efforts made to conceal them. We tried this on four or five images, with powerlines that featured either prominently or diminutively in the composition, and came away impressed. For example, there’s the specific but frequently helpful option to remove powerlines, the blight of landscape photographers everywhere. Take, for example, the AI crop tool, which attempts to detect your subject and then line it up in the frame in a pleasing way or Luminar’s famed 'sky replacement', which will swap out your gunmetal-grey winter clouds for something with a bit more pizazz.īoth of those are present in Luminar AI, though – Luminar Neo brings with it a whole new set of tricks and toys. What makes Luminar Neo interesting is its AI tools, which claim to relieve you, the retoucher, of much of the technical strain of image editing, and even some of the creative choices you’ll have to make. ![]() Industry standards such as curves, white balance and so on are all in here, allowing you to do the simple stuff, like punching up colors and contrast, correcting color balance, cropping images to get your compositions right and so on.Īll of which, of course, you can do in just about any image editor. Whether you buy the AI hype or not, Luminar Neo has a strong set of image editing tools. ![]() |
